Plaid Stocking Topper with Buttons

Supplies:

Plaid fabric (see below for amount)      Fabric glue
Bias tape piping                                    Ready-made stocking of your choice
3 buttons

Directions: READ ALL THE WAY THRU BEFORE BEGINNING

  • Measure cuff height and add 3.5”. Measure around top edge, add 3"; now cut
  • To make curve in cuff wrap new cuff around top of stocking. Cuff will overlap in front. Cut bottom corners to form curve 
  • Fold under ¼” on along curved edge and press. 
  • Pin piping to curved edge of cuff. Stitch using matching thread, trim excess piping
  • Place cuff on stocking keeping the bottom edge straight. Overlap curved edges. Fold top edge to inside and pin to secure.(remember to remove original hanger)
  • Top stitch along the top edge about ¼” from the fold. Sew buttons along edge
  • For hanger take 2” x 8” fabric, fold in half lengthwise and press, open and fold both edges to center & press again, top stitch then fold and sew loop to stocking
