Felt Coin Purse

Felt Coin Purse

Supplies:

Felt for coin purse and small pieces for front design
Embroidery floss and needle
Button and scissors

Directions:

  • Cut felt strip 3 1/2x9”
  • Fold up 3 ½” to form purse 
  • Cut out felt shapes and arrange on purse; when you are satisfied with position pin in place
  • Fold down top, cut curve using a plate or something circular to give an even curve, draw line on inside of flap and cut
  • Fold curved flap, see if design is covered and adjust if necessary. Be sure to leave enough room for button and do a blanket stitch around all edges
  • Now open purse and use embroidery back stitch to stitch shapes in place. Embellish with additional stitches like the French knot, lazy daisy etc.
  • Fold purse back up and go around the edge using the blanket stitch (stitch thru front and back of purse-2 thicknesses and flap-one thickness)
  • Fold flap down and place button in center, mark with a pin and make a small slit; start with a very small slit because the felt will stretch; you can always make it bigger
  • Sew button onto coin purse

Fabric Wristlet

Fabric Wristlet

Supplies:

  • 2 coordinating fabrics each 3x13"
  • Coordinating thread and sewing machine
  • ¾” D ring and key ring

Directions:

  1. Press fabric in half lengthwise.
  2. Open fabric and fold each side to the center fold line and press, fold in half and press. Repeat with the other piece of fabric.
  3. Line up one fabric on top of the other with fold openings on opposite sides.
  4. Pin and stitch close to the edge along both sides, trim ends so they are even.
  5. Slide strip thru the D ring, stitch right sides together and back stitch at both ends to secure.
  6. Trim close to seam and flip right side out; slide the flat side of the D ring into the seam and stitch as close as possible to the D ring; go back and forth several times. Trim threads.

Pillowcase

Supplies:

  • ¾ yd. of fabric for pillowcase (45” wide)
  • ¼ yd. of fabric for header (45” wide)
  • Sewing machine, ruler, and scissors
  • Matching thread

Directions:

  1. Cut fabric for pillowcase 27” x width of fabric (A).
  2. Cut fabric for header 9” x width of fabric (B).
  3. Pin right sides of A and B together along the width of the fabric. Trim selvages off both pieces being sure that A & B are of equal widths.
  4. Stitch ½” seam. Press seam towards B.
  5. Fold in half with right sides together. Pin along the side edge of header and pillowcase being sure to match seams. Pin along bottom edge.
  6. Stitch ½” seam down the side and bottom. Press seams open. *Optional to finish with zig zag stitch or use serger.
  7. On wrong side press raw edge of B down ½” all along the entire upper edge. Now fold B so that this pressed edge lines up with the seam (where A and B were stitched together); press in place all the way around. Header will now be 4” wide.
  8. Turn pillowcase right side out with half of the header folded to the inside. Pin along the seam line and stich ¼” inch above the seam. Press.
